Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Re: DATE 5th OCT, 1582 not coming
Curious this,
it seems to do this for any date form Oct 5th 1582 thru to Oct 15th 1582 ,
the 4th and 16th are returned ok.
Could this be an Oracle version of the well known UNIX calendar for 1752
where it goes from Sep 2nd to Sep 14th and no 3rd to 13th (caused by the switch
from the Julian to Gregorian
Calendars (or was it vice versa??))
and if so who switched their calendars in October 1582 ?
Brian.

Subject: DATE 5th OCT, 1582 not coming
Here we are using following SQL:
select to_date('5-OCT-1582','DD-MON-YYYY') from dual;
which is returning 15-OCT-1582, instead of 05-OCT-1582
Any Clue ?
Sanjeev
