without getting into using the /proc filesystem...about all i can
say is look at connect times...correlate with process creation times..

Subject: network sockets & processes
Does anyone know how to take a given socket number out of netstat -a and
trace it back to an OS process? I'm running on an AIX 4.3 platform.
Thanks in advance.
