Oracle on WinNT is pretty stable, if you can hold the customer to have a dedicated server for it. We have some 10 GB databases with 10-150 concurrent users, running without any problems since 4-5 years.
On the developer side I think i does not make any difference, SQL*Net hides it all :-).
