Subject: RMAN and Veritas - how do you get them to talk to each other?
ORACLE-L Listmates,
We are trying to get RMAN to work with our existing Veritas NetBackup
for Oracle implementation,
but they don't seem to be communicating with each other.
We have Veritas NetBackup for Oracle configured so that it works fine to
back up files at the operating
system level.
We have RMAN configured and it works fine as long as we copy to disk.
When we try to have RMAN backup to tape via Veritas, however, things
just hang.
Our RMAN hot backup script is taken straight out of Veritas and RMAN's
documentation, as follows:
run {
allocate channel t1 type 'SBT_TAPE';
backup
incremental level 0
skip inaccessible
tag hot_db_bk_level0
filesperset 5
format 'bk_%s_%p_%t'
(database);
sql 'alter system archive log current';
backup
filesperset 20
format 'a1_%s_%p_%t'
(archivelog all);
}
When this runs, however, I see no activity in the database as far as
messages in
the alert log, change of status in v$backup, etc.
Does anyone have any insights into how to get RMAN and Veritas working
together, so that we
can do hot backups to tape?
Thanks in advance,
Scott Lockhart
