I had a similar problem last week. A program which ran quite quickly had
become a dog. It turned out that a table which holds intermediate results
was analyzed while populated. This resulted in a change in the query_plan
and very slow results.
Dropping the statistics on the itermediate results table fixed the problem.

I have a big problem and need urgent help, i have run analyze table compute
statistics on few tables yesterday and today one of my process which normaly
finished in 1 hour still running after 10 hours, any body have any idea???
