OK,

Been having quite some extensive e-mail conversations here and I think = we've
found a solution :

on UNIX :

NLS_LANG =3D 'AMERICAN.WE8DEC'
  (On our database the language is AMERICAN and the CHARACTERSET is = WE8DEC)
export NLS_LANG
sqlload ...

=EB remains =EB ...
