RAID vs. Mirrored Drives?

Anyone have general comments on choosing between the use of RAID vs. Mirrored drives?  Any papers that would be good to review?  I have a client with in a large Compaq (DEC) Unix environment that is considering switching from RAID to Mirrored drives, but they only have two controllers.  Thanks for any comments.
