Yes. In a nutshell, a script fires from the backup server and puts the db in hotbackup mode. The BCV's are resynched and split. The db is taken out of hotbackup mode, and the BCV's are written to tape from the backup server. We have recovered successfully from the BCV backups in minimal time. It's slick and quick, but there's no way you can include RMAN unless you buy the extra license to integrate RMAN with EMC and your backup software.
Hope this helps.

Subject: . EMC backups via BCV splits
Hi all,
Is anybody out there backing up their databases via EMC BCV splits? How about on raw devices? If you are using raw devices, how do you (or do you) backup the BCV split to tape? Just curious as to what methodologies people are using, as this technology is new to me.
Thanks for any insight!
