The previous DBA/Unix Admin created 3 LUNs each 8G in size. There is one file system on each LUN: Data is on 1, Index and Temp are on 2, with everything else on 3.  While i understand the idea of HP AutoRaid (scatter over all the drives as RAID 0/1), is there any performance advantage by creating a few more LUN / file systems and rearranging the various tablespaces?

In the SUN / AIX world I often create a file system per tablespace type.  This makes it really easy to do a df -k or bdf and instantly see info about disk usage.
