Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: 1 tablespace = n datafiles
Nicolas,
There is nothing wrong with tablespaces having more then 1 datafile. It is even necessary when you want to create tablespaces that are larger then 1 disk. There are more reasons to spread your tablespace over more then 1 datafile. In most instances it is done to improve performance.
So you shouldn't worry, but rather read some documentation on this stuff.

Subject: 1 tablespace = n datafiles
Hi all !
I got a database that has a tablespace associated with... ...8 datafiles !
Are the performances impacted ?
How can I reduce the number of datafiles to 1 ?
Thanx a lot !
Nico
