Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: 7.3.4 and 8.1.6 on same machine
This goes without saying, but keep close notes on every change you make =
to
that system, in case you have to backtrack.
Especially if you plan to migrate the Oracle7 database to 8i.
Also do a full export of your database(s) in conventional mode before =
you do
anything else.
For the copy of 8i I have here (8.1.5.0.0), the migration utility did =
not
work properly and every time we had to re-create the Oracle7 database
entirely.
In the end we ended up importing the Oracle7 database into 8i, we =
bypassed
the migration utility altogether.
This was just on a test machine, thank goodness.

You just need to set-up the correct ORACLE environment (ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID etc), when logging-in. -- Deepak Sharma Oracle DBA, Minneapolis (USA) --- Christine Turner <christine.turner_at_ips-sendero.com> wrote:Received on Fri Sep 08 2000 - 12:26:44 CDT
