Hi Al,
In a nutshell:
SQL*Plus is a client application that allows you to talk to the database via
SQL and PL/SQL.
SQL is a query language. There is an ANSI standard for it, but most
software companies put their spin on the language (little add-ons, etc.)
PL/SQL is a fully procedural programming language.
That's been my answer to managers who ask this question. It usually shuts
them up.
