RE: my previous message -- of course, if you can't access the table at all,
you won't be able to copy it. However, there are some cases where that type
of command does work. I had it happen to me back on a version 6 database
and what I described did work.

You can replace the datafile(s) but if you are not in archivelog mode then it will not be able to do media recovery and data will be lost.

OS - NT 4
ORACLE - 7.3.4.4
Mode - No Archive log
When accessing db, i am getting the ora 1578.... (file id 8 and block id 889).. I have found the datafile and the segment also. In that particular segment one big table is there. i couldn't able to access the table. Is it logical corruption or Physical? retrieving from the cold backup is the only way ?
