Also, take a look at O'Reilly's PL/SQL Programming, by Steven =
Feuerstein.
For SQL tuning, try Prentice Hall, High Performance SQL Tuning by Guy Harrison.
ITO (introduction to Oracle) will comprehensively cover Oracle SQL for =
you,
and PL/SQL Programming Units will teach you how to create procedures,
functions, packages - but if you know another version of SQL already =
and the
Oracle course price is too steep, you can probably learn on your own, =
with
time.

It works wonders with the co-op's we get. ____________________Reply Separator____________________ Author: "Peter J. Schoenster" <webmaster_at_rede.com> Date: 8/19/00 5:54 PM Hi, I was recently presented with developing on a website with=20 Oracle as rdbms. Previously I've always used mysql/postgresql. I got a guy to install/configure Oracle 8i and I can take a=20 Perl/DBI/DBD script that works with mysql and just change the=20 driver string and it works on Oracle. The Oracle response even=20 for the most basic table setup (no optimizing at all) has been=20 quite impressive. I am seeking suggestions and sources of info on how to best=20 create tables/indexes, when and if to use PL/SQL or just plain=20 old SQL, how to use Oracle to help me improve performance for=20 the SQL queries (inserts/updates only occur at off-peak times),=20 when to use views, ... all sorts of things related to what I=20 would call developing databases as opposed to maintaining them=20 and Oracle which I would consider the work of a DBA.
