A quick way to find out what version of rdbms software is installed, 64-bit
or 32 bit version.
file $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle
On Solaris this gives the following for 64-bit version: oracle: ELF 64-bit MSB executable SPARCV9 Version 1, dynamically linked On Solaris this gives the following for 32-bit version: oracle: ELF 32-bit MSB executable SPARC Version 1, dynamically linked, not stripped
