please refer to the oracle installation guide for ur platform. they have nice and detailed instructions. here is a high level all the same ..configure ur oratab and execute dbstart/dbshut when the system starts and shuts respectively by putting these in the system startup files namely /etc/rcX/<urcustomfile>
