those are joking references to american tv shows:
Xena the Warrior Princess (contemporary) Gilligan's Island (from the 1960s)
You should be able to find info about both shows at a www search engine ( eg, http://google.com ).
In particular I would recommend reading any sociological analysis of "Gilligan's Island" that you can find. That show, even though it was done in a "light comedy" format, was actually full of interesting insights into the "pre-PC" american value system, especially class structure, materialism, gender roles, sexism, racism, etc.
The "Gilligan" character is a symbol of the working class, good hearted, but dull (uneducated, unrefined) "everyman" victim figure.
Several of the other characters are based on archetypal "oppressor" figures (the abusive, dysfunctional and blustering "boss", the pretentious capitalist who insists on various social privileges, the unattainable vixen who is both an object of male sexual fantasy and a symbol of societies warped standards of "beauty", and so forth).
Xena takes place in an ancient (pre-christian european) "heroic" mythic context, with lots of references to greek gods and such. Xena the warrior princess fights both her own internal spiritual battles, as well as battles between good and evil in cosmic and social-ethical contexts. As you can see, the parallels with a dba career are quite Received on Thu Aug 03 2000 - 11:55:06 CDT
