You can specify different passwords for different instances on the same =
server by naming the Pwdxxxx.ora files different for each instance that =
you connect to as Server Manager.

To the best of my knowledge, Oracle always looks in
$ORACLE_HOME/dbs or $ORACLE_HOME/database depending on the
platform. I've never seen a way to specify a different path.
