Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: Installing Oracle 8.1.6 on Hardened OS
Maria,
I learnt this the hard way as our SA's were adamant that this could be a
security hole ..
for OUI/netasst/... -->
on server --> x packages must be installed on SCRT client --> x11 forwarding enabled so display is setautomatically and xceed/... running on worklstation
i guess i have simply repeated what steve and others on this thread have already suggested .. hmm

Good thinking Dave!
Maria, Dave's suggestion is no doubt the simplest solution.

Wouldn't she still require the xlibraries on the host machine she is
performing the install on? If so the sys admin would still be reluctant
to
give her X. I would suggest she install on a test system, tar up the
install, and untar on the host within the firewall.
