Hi!

  1. Have You written a line in init.ora something like utl_file_dir = <your directory>
  2. If I remeber correctly on NT <your directory> is without slash in the end e.g. c:\mydir
  3. I'm not sure one can use utl_file on shared directories

Gints

Hi Gurus,

I'm running Oracle 8.0.5 on NT-4 (SP3) on Server 1. Server 1 has a mapping E:\ pointing to Server 2\share directory. I'm trying to read a file on E:\ by using UTL_FILE package. But is is raising an INVALID_OPERATION
exception.
I have checked the file access and that is fine. Also the paths specified in UTL_FILE.FOPEN call are correct.
