Yes, finally this is working now. Iam able to export without errors after running catexp.sql

You may need to run catexp7 and/or catexp in the 816 database for installing the required views for exporting to lower database version.

Thanks for the reply. Iam able to connect to 816 from 815 using your procedure. When export command is issued with username/PW_at_connectstring, the export starts, but with the same errors as before.

We don't use TNSNAMES on this box, instead we use central Names server. Does it make any difference?

Try this.

The tnsnames under Oracle815home/network/admin should have an entry for the 816 database. Try to connect to sqlplus giving username/password@<tns_alias_name> for the 816 database. If this works then you are able to connect to 816 from 815.

Then try the exp command, when prompted for the username and password give username/password@<tns_alias_name>.

If the ORACLE_HOME is set to 815, export reports that Oracle is not available and gets terminated. Setting TWO_TASK variable alone has not made any difference either.
Let me know if you have any other ideas.

Set you ORACLE_HOME variable to 815. Create TWO_TASK variable to point to 816 SID and try exporting.

When exported from 815/bin, the export is generating so many errors for most of the tables as follows:

EXP-00008: Oracle error 1003 or 904  encountered
ORA-01003: no statement parsed
ORA-00904: invalid column Name

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You need to do export from 8.1.5 pointing to the database in 8.1.6. Cannot export into 8.1.5 from 8.1.6; not downward compatible.

Iam taking the 816 export file and importing into 815 database and getting the following errors:

IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully.

Iam on HP-UX 11.0
I would appreciate if someone help me in resolving the problem.
