I would give them only the exact privilages they need to do the job. Being a test platform I wouldn't really have any problems with giving out the DBA password until the first time they muck something up.

DBA is a Responsibility level.

Are they willing to share Responsibility if the system goes down? If not then they don't get it. There is NO reason why they need unbridled access. If bosses start complaining then spell it out.

If the boss says 'You do as I say - give it to them'

Then put it in writing 'I am doing this because you told me to against my best advice and you must understand that unqualified people now have the ability to trash the database beyond recoverability'

e-mail it to him and add a long list on the cc including the 'owner' of the end-product they are developing.

Sending this again, Because I did not have a subject last time.

I sure would appreciate some opinions on this. At my place of work we have

two teams in our division. One team is the application programmers and the

other team is UNIX system/Oracle DBAs. I have a new platform that just came in. I need to set up the Oracle database and Oracle Application Server
on it. Here's the question. My application programmer wants the Oracle
DBA account and the sys account. This platform is not a test platform.

Yes they are developing on this platform and then it will go into production. My Oracle DBA's do not want to give out the accounts to the
developers.
Who do I please?
