hi list,
we're 2 developers/dbas/sysadmins here, we've both all passwords, but when
it's up to change certain things at dba/root/Administrator - level, we never
do it one alone...
so every step is checked twice...
our co-workers do not know privileged pwds, they're given more or less
privileges according to the project they work on, but _never_ dba/root.
if one of us is alone here (even austrian sysadmins tend to like free days out) our mobile phones do a _real_ good job...
we've a 24x7 database (3 inst. in prod. 1 for development) and a 24x7 lan/wan plotted over half of europe, and we're about to connect our sales office in usa/canada in the next weeks.
we never had problems working this way.
greetings from austria
joe
ps: never give away a pw for a cisco, never, i've made this mistake once and will do it never again!
