Tablespace extent question

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for the formula that Oracle uses to determine when to extend a tablespace, and what kind of look-ahead formatting is done in the extended area.

For example, when Oracle determines there is 50% remaining available of the secondary size in the tablespace, it will take an extent of the supplied extent size. Eg., tablespace is 500M, extent is 10M, autoextend is on. When tablespace is 495M (50% of secondary size = 5M; primary has space available equal to 1/2 the extent size), it would extend to 510M.

Thanks,
