OCI and deferred mode

Hi

When you write an OCI application you can link OCI libraries in deferred or non-deferred mode. Beginning with Oracle7 OCI the deferred mode is default.
I wonder where you set the mode. The "Programmers Guide to the Oracle Call Interfaces" documentation tells to look into Oracle system specific guide for information how to set the linking mode but it is pretty general direction considering Oracle documentation...

Does anybody know in better detail where to find the info?
