If you use RAID5 remember that you loose the disk capacity of one disk for = the RAID configuration algorithim storage ie: four 10 gig drives equates = to 30 gig storage RAID5. If you use RAID5 you can loose one disk and still = be able to recover the data that you have storred in the configuration and = the disks are prefferably "hot swaps". RAID5 disk configuration is best = used for read type data, the performance drops drasticly on updates,inserts= ,deletes because of the writing to the data area and the algorithim area. RAID5 is good but it does not follow OFA for disk layouts and i/o = contention.

Hi list,

If you have 4 disks which one do you prefer :

use all disks for tables and indexes (and what kind of disk configuration= =20 : striped, concatenated or raid5)
use 2 disks for data and 2 disks for indexes
