We tried to do 7.3 to 8.1.5 about 6 months ago using the migration utility and ran into one snag after another. We never got it to work. We eventually decided to go the export/import route on all databases that were small enough, but we have a 700g DW that we'll need to run through the migration utility and there's much trepidation about it. That's part of the reason why it still sitting on 7.3.3. The platform we tried it on is SGI.
