Hi,
W've running 8.0.5.2.1(normal application) and an 8.1.6.1 (OEM repository)
databases on the same machine aix 4.3.2. You can run rootpre (we did) but we
had some problems with the post / wait kernel options, solved by running
loadext.
But before you install 8.1.6. y'll need an few aix patch(es) f.i. IY03412
(or look on metalink and search for APAR's (aix / sp) Becareful because
after applying the patch y'll need to reboot (the 8.0.5 instance must be
shut down first before applying the patch).
btw we have also 7.3.4 instances next to 8.1.6 running (no problem)
I've set LINK_CNTRL only during installation, .

I currently have many instances running under 8.0.5.1. Some will remain under this ORACLE_HOME, some will migrate to 8.1.6.
After reading the 8.1.6 - R2 Installation Guide, I have the following questions:
Must I run rootpre.sh again?
LINK_CNTRL must now remain unset. Does this mean I only set it to L_PTHREAD_D7 when I need to relink something in the 8.0.5.1 ORACLE_HOME?
