The more GENERAL rule of thumb is that your Oracle block size should be a multiple of your OS block size, so with Veritas defaults, a multiple of 8k, so 8k, 16k, 32k...
Ah, but should it be 8K or 32K?
Smaller blocks have a little more overhead, because they each have a =
data
block header.
But then the OS had to load more data into memory every time a block is read.
If the rows are small then 8K is fine, if the rows are large then would =
32K
be better.
