An associate of mine (was a developer here, but did not like the DBA crew
restricting him) decided to take the pay increase and jump into being a DBA at a
dot.com. He stayed for about 90 days, sent a mesage with only a subject; "Now I
understand", and moved on to a more regular position for less $ and no options.

Actually, I believe Steve HAS done it, which is why he can joke about it :>).
I've just done it myself. Jury's still out on whether it's a bonehead move. So far, so good!

That is not funny b/c i was dumb enough to do it :-) and i still have not retired :-(.
