Re: Export Import - Linux to Sloaris error

It is not an operating system issue here. When you export from Solaris, you are running 815. And you are importing into a 816 database on Linux.

When you export from Linux, you are running 816. ANd you are trying to import that into a 815 database in Solaris!!!

The 815 database cannot read the 816 export file, that is the reason of the fail.

You will need to use 815 export utility to export your database and then use the 815 utility to import it back.

If you don't have 815 running on the LINUX box, then use NET8 to do the export. On your solaris box, run the export command like this exp system/manager@<dbname_on_linux> <other parameters>

Hello all,

I have a strange situation.

Export a user from a Solaris Box 2.6, Oracle 8.1.5 Import to Linux 2.1.6, Oracle 8.1.6 -- works like a charm.

Export a user from a Linux 2.1.6, Oracle 8.1.6 Import to a Solaris Box 2.6, Oracle 8.1.5 -- does not work get the following
error

IMP-00010: not a valid export file,header failed verification
IMP-00021:operating system error - error code (dec2, hex 0x2)
IMP-00000:import terminated unsuccessfully

The recordlength on the export and import should match due to diff OS, but even with the same record length it does not work..any one experience the same.. or have any ideas??? What am I missing?
