NLS Parameters - HElp Urgent ..

The database NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET is set to UTF-8 (UNICODE) When I query the table the result is other than English.

I want to verify how the actual data is stored in datafiles. how do i do it ?

Also what steps are needed to get the table query output in American English.

I am new to NLS stuff .. Please guide ..
