Hi Franck,

I've been trying to get some time to fully implement RMAN on Oracle 8.0.5 and OpenVMS 7.1-2. From my testing, I haven't had any problems or concerns about running it on OpenVMS.

The only drawback I could see here is that I don't think you'll have the ability to have RMAN and a tape storage management facility like Legato to talk directly. Maybe because Legato and others haven't written anything like that for OpenVMS??? We're doing disk-to-disk backups anyway, so it's not really a concern for us.

You might want to check out Doc ID 69434.1 on MetaLink for RMAN setup info on OpenVMS.

HTH! Good luck! :)
