I am running Oracle 8.1.6.1.0 on slightly modified RH 6.2 system with 12 GB disk, 128 MB RAM, 350 MHZ K6-2 CPU and it works fine. There are bugs and problems ( ora-600 trace files are not complete, the bug recently described
by Leng Kaing etc.) but overall impression is good, even very good. I hear that
some people are not so happy with downloading oracle, but with the cable modem
it was all done in approximately 2 hours. I'm not sure how much time it would
require with 1200 kbaud/s modem.
