Thanks for the responses. Yes, one way to fix this would be to move off o= f Siemens! :)
I don't think it has anything to do with redirecting my display. It can't= find the file that it's looking for:
instnd01:> ls -al ../stage/Components/oracle/swd/jre/1.1.7/1/DataFiles/E=
xpanded/jre/reliantunix/bin/jre
=2E./stage/Components/oracle/swd/jre/1.1.7/1/DataFiles/Expanded/jre/relia=
ntunix/bin/jre: No such file or directory
It does exist if you change the path to start inthe current directory:
instnd01:> ls -al ./stage/Components/oracle/swd/jre/1.1.7/1/DataFiles/Exp=
anded/jre/reliantunix/bin/jre
-rwxrwxrwx 1 59684 8305 743 Mar 30 1999 ./stage/Components/=
oracle/swd/jre/1.1.7/1/DataFiles/Expanded/jre/reliantunix/bin/jre
This seems like a faulty script to me. Does oracle test this stuff at all= before they ship it?! I know Siemens isn't exactly "first tier", but thi= s is ridiculous.
I have a tar open, I'll post the solution to the list.

Hi! suzy that works on almost all other servers (IBM,SUN i have seen!)... but siemens NO!
In fact we have had to take the decision of moving away databases from
Reliant servers
just because of this...
I am very (very!) keen to know the solution...
Is some siemens engineer, or Oracle guy looking this list!????

Did you set DISPLAY and xhost + ? Does /tmp have plenty of space ??
