Steff,

I'm not sure why it's hanging, but I don't think it's a memory issue. Unfortunately I don't have it installed on my test box and I've already got 8.0.6 installed in the default home so I can't install it due to the 8.0.5 files it needs.

Are you using the version of SQL*Plus that came with Olite?
If you use a version of SQL*Plus installed in a different Oracle home I don't think it can find the Olite dll's.

Did you reboot after installing Olite?
  When in doubt, reboot ;)

Try using the 32-bit ODBC Test utility (it should be in the same program group as the Olite Navigator) to see if it can connect to Olite.

I don't know if it's changed with Olite 8i, but the older versions required the ODBC:POLITE to be in caps.
