In my experience, it often means that the salary is so low they are embarrassed to post it or they don't have a clue about what to offer. =20
When I've been in job search mode in the past I respond to DOE type ads after the job ads that have a salary range. =20
I only respond to ads that ask for a salary requirement or salary =
history if
there is not much else to apply for. Generally these are HR =
departments
trying to find out what they should be paying their present employees.
I never respond to ads that do not list the name of the company. You =
might
be applying to your present employer! I've known people who responded =
to
these ads and the prospective employer called their present boss to get
information on them, even though their cover letter explicitly asked =
that
their present employer not be contacted. Apparently, some people feel =
that
the anonymity gives them license to do this.
All of that said, I've only gotten one job through an advertisement. =
Every
other job I've gotten was through someone that I knew.
