Andreas
Checkpoints help to reduce the amount of time needed to perform instance recovery.Checkpoint cause DBWR to write all the blocks that have been modified since the last checkpoint to the datafiles and update the datafiles header and controlfiles to record the checkpoint.Checkpoints occur automatically whem an online redo log file fills;the LOG_CHECKPOINT_INTERVAL parameter in the database instance's init.ora file may be used to set a more frequent checkpoint.
Now you can decrease the LOG_CHECPOINT_INTERVAL parameter in your init.ora parameter for more frequent checkpointing.

Subject: checkpoint not complete
During resync my Intermedia indexes I often see a "checkpoint not complete" message in my alert file.
What does it mean ?
