adding new schemas without new user accounts ?

Dear all,

I would like to seperate my tables by splitting them into logical schemas like DATA and MAIN with different permission for several users. Is it true that the name of schema is bound to an existing user account. I know that every user has its own schema. But can I add schema without adding a new (dummy) user ?
