During an export-related call to Oracle support last year, the technician
mentioned a similar-sounding issue which was specific to AIX and the
"compress" utility. According to her, using a different compression utility
was sufficient to avoid the problem. We didn't look into that any further
at the time, because it wasn't related to our actual problem... I tried
searching Metalink later, but didn't find anything.
