Uninstall both d2k and oracle 8i. 2. Clear the oracle registry entries. 3. Clear the directories from the hdd. 4. Install D2k 6. This will create orant and that will be the oracle = home. 5. Install oracle 8i and accept whatever oracle home it provides. Don't = force it to change. 6. Check the database startup. I guess that will be smooth. 7. Locate the tnsnames.ora in the oracle 8i home. It will be = \Oracle\Ora81\Network\Admin. Open the file and pickup the service = entries from this file. 8. Go into \orant\net80\admin. Open the tnanames.ora. Add the service u = have for oracle 8i. 9. Launch forms/reports designer with the user name,password and give = the service name fully. It will connect. follow these steps.
 
1. Uninstall both d2k and oracle = 8i.
2. Clear the oracle registry = entries.
