To Change Oracle SID on NT -- STEPS.

Go to MS DOS Prompt. Give
 Set Oracle_SID=your sid (Example: Set Oracle_SID = ORCL8).

Now, go to svrmgr30 and connect internal. Issue the following command.
Select name from v$database.
You should see the name of your desired database. Now, you can perform what you want.

  Dear DBAs !

  A couple of questions :

I have a 8.1.5 installation on NT and a DataBase called ORA1 .   I want to install 8.1.6 as well on the same server .

  The questions are :

     How do i change the ORACLE_HOME ?
Can i operate the "old" ORA1 just using the 8.1.6 software ?

I also want to create a different DB . How do i change the ORACLE_SID ?

  Many thanks in advance !
