Zabair, the number you see is in hundreths of a second. It's showing you 2.11
if I recall correctly.
Try SET TIME ON. It's easier to interpret.

Subject: set timing on
Hello all
Quick question, how do you get the timing in mins and secs when you set timing on in sqlplus.
SQL-ORACLE-AHMEDZ> set timing on
SQL-ORACLE-AHMEDZ> select * from v$database;
NAME CREATED LOG_MODE CHECKPOINT_CHANGE#
ARCHIVE_CHANGE#
--------- -------------------- ------------ ------------------
real: 211
SQL-ORACLE-AHMEDZ>
As you can see it returns the time in real.
Thanks
Zabair
