hi walt. ioug-a was the business trip from hell for me. couldn't find the
shuttle guy at lax so took a $75 taxi ride to anaheim (ouch!) instead of a
$13.50 shuttle van ride. arrived at hilton at 10:30am but couldn't check in until 3pm. tried to rent a car but the guy in front of me just took the last one (everybody else had the same idea) so cooled my heels at the power boat show next door (nothing like mingling with lots of los angeles rednecks). later on while relaxing in my hotel room, a guy walked in with
his bags. apparently they overbooked and gave my room out again. shower vent
fan dripped at times (over the tub). lost my free lunch meal tickets.

otherwise, some of the presentations were good and made the trip worthwhile.

how do you like our isis dba job description? no wonder nobody wants to apply for the job (especially after we tell them what the salary range is). they make lots more money managing a piddly 10gb database on an nt server instead of banging their head against our 600gb monster. personally, i'm into the "it feels so good when you stop (and go home)" syndrome.
