Depending how much memory available is on your box one of the solutions is to try to increase as much as possible SORT_AREA_SIZE for this session. If you will do conventional path loading - to analyze or not depends on what is the pecentage of changes to the table.

You're correct, and that's exactly how we have it partitioned currently (I'd hate to see performance if this was one big honkin table :). A direct-path load should work fine, but it continues to cause problems :( C'est la vie, I suppose, and it's something I'll be looking deeper into after the next monthly batch cycle runs.
