It always runs on our version. What version are you testing with?
$ cat glogin.sql
prompt running glogin.sql
$
$ sqlplus /nologin
SQL*Plus: Release 8.1.5.0.0 - Production on Thu May 4 07:50:01 2000
(c) Copyright 1999 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
running glogin.sql
SQL> exit

I am sorry but that is not a correct answer... You can avoid running glogin.sql by starting your session with 'sqlplus /nologin' command and then issuing 'connect user/password' command. I encourage you to try it and post again if that does not work...
