I completely agree with David. I learnt a lot just by reading the messages floating around in the list. It actually built up my confidence that if I a face a problem, there is somebody who can really be relied for getting answeres.
Please keep it at least for the likes of me who are new.

My vote is to have replies posted to the list. Although I don't read every message, I look at the headers and occasionally, actually frequently, find an answer to a problem that I am having. I also save stuff for problems I can anticipate happening.
I also enjoy the "banter." The adage "The more unstable your DBA, the more stable your database" has some merit.
