My StoryServer skills are a bit rusty, and in particular I am unfamiliar with the latest version, but I believe that you could address this issue by using Pro*C and the TCL DLOAD mechanism. It's a lot of work up-front, but (IIRC) you can return an array from a DLOAD, and pass an array into one.
