Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Re: how to get the local time zone
Marin,
Be wary of using NEW_TIME. It does not know about Daylight Savings Time
(Summer Time) start/stop dates or which countries use it. Also, only North
American time zones plus GMT are available built-in. It has very limited
usefulness. For more information on time zones and DST, see
www.timeanddate.com.

NEW_TIME() expects source and target time zone for converting the date, but how can I get the local time zone string from Oracle?
