what is meant by manually?
I am giving some info about lov take it out.
1) select the lov from object navigator, and it will ask U based on query or not just dis select based on query.
2) Next go to property pallet and change the name.
3) Now create on record group which type U want,and give a name to
this recordgroup.
4) Now go to property pallet of lov and attach this recordgroup
to lov.
HERE IS A SMALL NOTE:
MAKE SURE THAT THE MAPPING COLUMN SPECIFICATION PROPERTY OF
LOV AS ADDED SAME AS RECORD GROUP WHICH MEANS
IF U HAVE THE NAME OF THE COLUMNS IN RECORDGROUP AS
Empno,Ename,Sal
THE same name should U have to select.

i just read the steps u type
i think it will work fine .. unless u didn't 4get to write your query after u male it based on query or u can create your record group 1st after that you can creat your LOV based on that record group .. and that will work fine
